Surface Preparation
Water features must be placed on a solid surface to avoid settling. Acceptable finished surfaces include pavers, stone, concrete, etc. If it is to be placed on soil or gravel, the area must be compacted enough to avoid irregular settling. We recommend using 1-2” of sand on top of compacted base material to help with leveling. Most of our water features may be buried to any desired depth.
Water Supply
Water features include an auto-fill valve to allow for an optional automatic water supply setup. We recommend that the water supplied be controlled by a timed valve for added protection from accidental over-filling. Water features are susceptible to staining from hard water deposits. The quality of water used to fill the feature has a huge impact on the amount of deposits that build over time. We recommend using filtered and/or soft water to reduce visible deposits. OE is not liable for issues caused by water quality. Refer to the care and maintenance document for more information.
Electricity (Optional)
Our water feature pumps require standard 120vAC power. The amps required vary with the size of the pump. A GFI circuit with an outlet in a weatherproof bubble cover is required within 15’ of the water feature (the pump cords are 20’ long). We recommend that the circuit be switched as the pumps do not have switches built in.
